2011 -2012 State Deputy
Michael L. Wills

Brother Knights,
Communication is extremely important in any organization. While the Tennessee State Council has had a history of excellent communication, we have the opportunity to take advantage of a communication tool. Although I for one prefer the tried and true face to face method of communication, with our modern lifestyles and busy schedules we need to be open to new technologies and communications methods. Each has its place, with advantages and disadvantages. As those who have embraced the internet and use Google’s search engine can tell you, there is a lot of good information and references on the internet and there is a lot of bunk. To assist the Knights in Tennessee by providing another way to share helpful information, we embracing another new technology and adding another tool to our arsenal: the "Discussion Forum".
A discussion forum is simply a place where we can share our experiences - what has worked and what has not worked; where we can ask questions; and where we can suggest answers. Basically it is a place where we can have "electronic discussions". While this can be a good source for information, it should not be your only source for information. It is not a substitute for the excellent information available on the Supreme Website. Additionally, using it should be in addition to and not instead of consulting with the chain of command. Everyone should use the District Deputies, the Program Staff and State Officers as the valuable resources they are!
Now for a few housekeeping items. Our discussions are open to the members of the Tennessee State Council and members of the Councils within the State of Tennessee. To view any discussion you will be required to login. To login you must first register within the forum, then your registration must be approved by the administrator (your membership number and council number are required and will be verified). While we all get used to this new communications means, all posts to our discussion boards will be approved by a moderator, and will not be seen by others until approved. Initially, we plan three forums, with more being added as requested. The initial discussions will be 1) Job listings by Brother Knights For Brother Knights, 2) A Tech-Tips forum with helpful hints, discussions and questions on how to perform various tasks with your computers and tips and tricks to make various programs do what you want them to do. 3) A Financial Secretary discussion area with resources for Financial Secretaries.
We hope you find the Discussion Forum to be a helpful communication tool.
